Let’s be honest—you can have the most stunning visuals in the world, but if your audio mix is bad, your audience is gone before you can say “subscribe.” That’s exactly why I decided to dive into one of the coolest new AI-powered features inside DaVinci Resolve 20 Studio — the AI Audio Assistant.
And spoiler alert: it’s a total game-changer for solo creators, podcasters, YouTubers, and content editors.
With this I am using A.I to do audio mix in seconds inside Resolve 20, not minutes or hours.
🎬 Setting the Scene
I tested this tool on a podcast recording with Victor (you might recognize the clip if you’re a regular on the channel). I had:
Two vocal tracks: one slightly quieter than the other.
A music bed that was way louder than both voices.
No manual audio balancing. No EQ tweaks. Just raw, unprocessed audio.
Enter AI Audio Assistant.

🧠 Auto-Mix for Humans Who Aren’t Audio Engineers
All I did was head to:
Timeline → AI Tools → Audio Assistant
It immediately asked: "Where is this audio going?"
YouTube
Netflix
Disney+
...even cinema mix standards.
🎯 I picked YouTube, hit Auto Mix, and… done. In under 5 seconds, the AI:
Balanced the voices
Mixed the music bed
Optimized for dialog intelligibility
Finalized a broadcast-ready master

🎧 The Results?
Victor’s and my audio were suddenly leveled and clean, even in the waveform graphs. What would normally take me 20–30 minutes of manual tweaks? 👉 Done in seconds.
And guess what — it’s not just a “set it and forget it” tool. You can dive deeper.
🛠️ Pro-Level Tools for Everyday Creators
DaVinci’s AI Audio Assistant includes:
✅ Voice Isolation
Removes background noise and echo — in real-time. Perfect for cleaning up room tone or reverb.
✅ iMusic Mixer
If you're mixing over music, you can adjust individual stems like:
Vocals
Bass
Guitar
Drums ...without needing access to the original multi-track.
✅ Audio Dialog Leveler
Use this to bring loud or quiet voices into balance without compression headaches. Trust me, your editor ears will thank you.

🔊 Real-World Use Case: Podcast Post-Production
This feature is a dream for podcast editors.
💡 Clip in point: I isolated my voice mid-dialogue, removed the reverb, rebalanced the music, and achieved a pro-sounding mix — without even opening the Fairlight tab.
This alone makes Resolve 20 Studio feel like it’s built for creators who wear multiple hats: editor, sound designer, and mixer.
🚀 Final Thoughts
I’ve only scratched the surface of what the AI Audio Assistant can do, but already I’m seeing how it levels up the solo editing game.
If you’re using Resolve 20 Studio, go try this feature now. If you’re not using it yet… well, maybe it’s time to upgrade.
