About Beyond The Pixels

"Forget chasing AAA glory! That’s not our game!"

Founded by HaZ Dulull with a mission to create games in a smarter, more agile way—capturing the same thrill and wonder he felt playing arcade and 16-bit console games as a kid.

We use the latest tools and technology to design and produce games that reflect the simple plot and mechanics of the games we loved when growing up on consoles like SNES and the Coin-op Arcades.

The simple run and gun / shoot-em-up button-bashing games that require speed, coordination and skills, layered with an engaging story that isn't complex.

Our games are that but delivered with the slick visual design flair, high speed frame rates and graphics fidelity on next gen PC + consoles for today’s generation of gamers, whilst staying in lean and smart game development approaches to keeping costs and schedule as tight as possible.

We leverage smart social media and brand partnership strategy to create community for our games from day one.

The Founder

HaZ began his career in video games as a cinematics artist on titles such as Motocross Mania (PS1), Colin McRae Rally (PS2), and Battalion Wars (GameCube), before transitioning into visual effects on major films like Hellboy II and The Dark Knight.

He later moved into directing and producing, making his feature debut with the indie sci-fi hit The Beyond (2018), which reached #2 on the iTunes Charts and was later licensed by Netflix. His follow-up film, 2036 Origin Unknown starring Katee Sackhoff, received a theatrical release before also landing on Netflix.

HaZ was then brought on by Disney to direct and executive produce the pilot and full series of Fast Layne.

In 2020, HaZ embraced real-time filmmaking with Unreal Engine, directing the Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden proof-of-concept, spotlighted by Epic Games and featured on IGN. He went on to direct and produce Max Beyond, one of the first feature films made entirely in Unreal Engine 4 (available on Amazon, Sky Movies, and other platforms).

He went on to direct the launch trailer for Evil Genius 2 (at Rebellion) and the in-game cinematics for Dune: Awakening by Funcom.

Before founding Beyond The Pixels, HaZ broke ground in UGC game development with Moontopia, one of the first original IPs built in Fortnite. It was featured as an Epic Pick, highlighted on the Fortnite front page, and covered by media outlets like VentureBeat and EDGE Magazine.

In early 2025, HaZ led the gamification of Fremantle & BBC’s The Rap Game UK into Fortnite, which was nominated for a Webby Award.
